I have my mid-term tomorrow. I can`t believe it`s been 3 weeks already! The picture shows the number of verbs I have to have memorized...l`indicatif au présent, future proche, passé composé, et l`imparfait. It`s weird for me to think that I can count the number of verbs that I know in a language. (I wonder how many English ones I know...) I also need to know my masculin and feminin nouns, how to plurialize those nouns, articles, how to write questions, negatives like ne...jamais, ne...plus, etc., the masculine and feminine forms of adjectives, where to put those adjectives (ie. before or after the noun), and adverbs of time, place, manner, etc. I wrote out all the verbs on these index cards, colour-coded for verb group (regular -er, regular -ir, irregulars), highlighting the participe passé and the stem to form the imparfait. I`ve drawn all the nouns as pictures in blue or pink ink - sexist, I know, but it helps me to see the masculine and feminine! I`ve also made a stack of adverbs and their meanings on half-sized index cards. It`s really just a lot of memorization, so far!
It`s a lot to know for one test, but the hardest part for me is knowing that I`ve studied this all before. Nothing I`ve learned is new to me - okay, not true in that I knew everything (or know everything now) about these topics, but I`ve taught all these before. I`m thankful for the practice because I certainly need it! I just look forward to the next couple weeks when I will learn new verb tenses like plus-que-parfait.
