Explore. Dream. Discover.

Melanie

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
— Mark Twain

#postcardfrom spring | “Cherry blossoms, the national flower of Japan, are ripe with symbolism. These delicate flowers, with their brief but powerful blooming season, epitomize the impermanent, fleeting nature of life, and are associated with mortality and the acceptance of destiny.” #vancouver #cherryblossoms #spring #bloom #travel #postcardfrom Earth Day | It’s almost like we’re trying to be sustainable. Almost.

The biggest plane, the 747, has 6 million parts, all of which come together to create a machine that carries us halfway around the world in hours instead of days or weeks.

Such magic. #WeAreAllCanucks 💚💙 #ThankYouSedins #GoodbyeSedins #Vancouver #Canucks #VancouverCanucks #GoCanucksGo #hockey #postcardfrom Market Theater Gum Wall | Of course, I had to contribute to this weird Seattle attraction!

It all began in the early 1990s. Apparently, theatre patrons began sticking their gum (and coins) to the wall as they waited. Some even made creative gum sculptures. Theatre workers eventually gave up trying to keep the alley clean.
More than twenty years later, in November 2015, the city scrubbed the whole thing down to steam clean the bricks. The Seattle Times reports that it took workers an estimated 130 hours to fill 94 buckets with 2350 pounds of gum.
But now the wall is well on its way to returning to its former glory!
